Rangnick comments on Martial’s Man Utd future amid exit talks

Series A giant Juventus held discussions with Manchester United overcome a potential move to fight forward Anthony Martial, although they have yet to actually submit a formal offer.

Italian store Tuttosport report that Juventus are planning to spend time before the January transfer window officially opens to evaluate options and identify their ideal stand-out candidate.

Martial is believed to have been underwhelmed at Old Trafford and his career at United appears to have hit another low under the new caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick, who seems to have considered the French redundant requirements.

The 26-year-old has made seven appearances for the Red Devils in Premier League So far this season, scoring just once at home to Everton in early October.

Martial is yet to play under new manager Rangnick, although that is due to injury and postponement rather than disregard by the Germans.

With an abundance of attack options, Rangnick has at his disposal as a summer addition Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, as well as the likes of Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford, Martial could struggle in the first minute even when he’s back to full fitness.

The Frenchman’s desire to leave is no secret, with Martial’s agent confirming earlier this month his client will seek out his stay at Old Trafford.

According to Martial’s agent, his desire to leave stems from a lack of game time at United, which the club understands and is therefore willing to punish his departure.

Juventus are intent on adding a striker to their squad in January as a means of bolstering their attack, with Martial’s name among many on the shortlist.

While negotiations over the Italian media claim have been ongoing between the two clubs, Juventus’ reluctance to place a bid stems from two main factors.

Edinson Cavani is also a target of Juventus

The first is whether Massimiliano Allegri’s men can hold out with a better player, former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the names mentioned frequently.

The second is caution as to whether Martial has ‘characteristics of a top player’ and a ‘strong sense of goal’ – this season’s stats will give a damn reading in the event there.

Martial’s future also depends a lot on whether fellow United striker Edinson Cavani leaves in January – the Old Trafford board are only willing to let one of them go at any one time. .

Juventus is also a big fan of the Uruguay international, who has the added advantage of Serie A experience from his time as Napoli’s top gunman.
