As viewers eagerly await the second season of Dragon Housethe state of another potential Game of Thrones spin-off is being resolved. In June, hollywood reporter first reported that Kit Harington‘s Jon Snow has the ability get your own series at HBO. After months of silence on the subject, the two-time Emmy-nominated actor is now offering some insight into what the show has to offer.
At a Game of Thrones fan conference on Sunday, Harington was asked about Snow’s results in divisive final episodewhere he discovered that his true identity was Aegon Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne, after killing Emilia Clarkeby Daenerys. He was later exiled from Westeros and driven from the North of the Wall with the Wildlings to start over. “I think if you ask him, he will feel he has gone downhill gently,” said Harington, via Weekly entertainment. “At the end of the show, when we found him in that cell, he was about to be beheaded and he wanted to be. He’s done. His coming to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.”
The actor continued, “He has to go back to the place where all this history is and live it to the fullest thinking about how he killed Dany, and live it to the fullest thinking of Ygritte. [Harington’s real-life spouse, Rose Leslie] died in his arms, and lived to the fullest thinking about how he hanged Olly [Brenock O’Connor], and live to the fullest thinking about all these traumas. Harington interestingly added, “So I think when we leave him at the end of the show, it always feels like… I think we wanted a little smile that everything was fine. He’s okay.”
This early year, Game of Thrones author George RR Martin confirm existence of spin-off under working title Snow in one blog post. He also said that Harington’s team met with him to “dig deep” into the central story. “Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought this idea to us,” Martin writes. “I can’t give you the names of the writers/hosts, as it hasn’t been released yet… but Kit also brought them in, his team, and they were amazing.”
Clarke said the same about Harington’s creative involvement in the show, telling BBC, “He told me about it. And I know it exists. It is happening. It’s made by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s involved in it from the start. So hopefully what you’ll see, if it happens, will be endorsed by Kit Harington.”
