We already know that Hideo Kojima is working on a new game, but the beloved creator has decided to deny some of the rumors that have swirled around for years now. On his latest podcast episode, Brain structureKojima confirmed that the rumors about his involvement with the indie game Abandoned are untrue and that he didn’t even understand them at first.
In short, some fans theorize that the indie project is little known Abandoned is actually a stealthy Kojima game, similar to the fake version of Metal Gear Solid 5 that debuted at the VGA Spike before the real launch. According to these rumors, Blue Box Studios’ Hasan Kahraman is just Hideo Kojima in disguise, and Abandoned is actually a new entry to Silent Hill similar to the infamously canceled project Silent Hills.
On the podcast, Kojima revealed that fans continue to send him poignant collages and collages of Kahraman, which he calls “quite annoying.” He notes that the rumors have been circulating for two years and that Abandoned has yet to be announced. Kojima also confirmed that he was never involved in the project and that he will never repeat the MGS5 stunt again, as he did not do the same thing twice.
In response to the news, Blue Box tweeted that it was “working hard on Abandoned,” adding that the rumors were “burdened”. Later in that same interview, Kojima said that major stakeholders in the video game industry have recommend to buy his studio at a “surprisingly high” price, but he’s determined to stay independent. Meanwhile, Kojima teased a upcoming project with some strange question words. We have also seen rumors about Death Stranding 2as well as another Kojima project for Xbox.
