Earlier this week, Catbird launched Poetry of flowers features hand-engraved birth flower amulets crafted from 14K recycled gold, with prices ranging from $158 to $178. Each piece features an original rendering of the flower associated with its specific month ( snowflakes for January, e.g. chrysanthemums for April, roses for June) with its meaning engraved on the back. Creative Director Leigh Plessner describes these charms as little snowballs with many unique details.
“We were looking for a way to represent the times, seasons and months of birth while still allowing for wide choice and movement within a collection,” Plessner told R29. “The birth flower is a lovely tradition that combines floral patterns, language and meanings, and seasonality.” Her personal favorite: Lily of the Valley, paired with May, the month they bloom.
