Over the past few months, a number of Southern films have proven to be box office successes across India. Movies such as ‘KGF Chapter 2’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and most recently ‘Karthikaya 2’, made in Kannada and Telugu, are dubbed and released in other languages .
When asked about south dubbed movies that are working in the north, but dubbing of Bollywood movies is not accepted in the south, Puri told ETimes, ”That’s absolutely true. It doesn’t work in real time. Northerners are accepting Southerners. But if a Hindi film dub in the south is not accepted by the audience there. There are some Hindi movies that Telugu audiences love to watch, but not especially the dubbed ones. ”
Puri Jagannadh made his directorial debut with the 2000 film ‘Badri’, starring Pawan Kalyan and Renu Desai. After that, he acted in many good movies in Telugu cinema and established his foothold. Currently, Puri and his team are awaiting the release of ‘Liger’, starring Vijay Deverakonda as a professional MMA fighter and Ananya Panday as his love interest. All set to premiere on August 25, director Puri Jagannadh also stars Ramya Krishnan and Ananya Panday in key roles. And it also features former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson.
