Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha has revealed the emotional goodbye she gives to her parents, who have left the UK to return to their native Jordan because of her father’s ongoing health condition.
The 37-year-old actress and talk show participant lovingly shared the loving moments of her parents, mother Roberta, 87, and father Nadim, 89, who have also lived with them for decades to keep them close.
But after years of agonizing over the health of her 89-year-old father, Nadia told Kaye Adams, Frankie Bridge and Jane Moore about her parents’ difficult decision to return to Jordan and her grieving goodbye.

Nadia told Loose Women on Friday: “The other day my parents went on an adventure like my dad said.
‘It’s quite heartbreaking for us to be left here as I’ve lived next to my parents for decades.
‘And my father is 89 years old, he has had some problems related to his health.
‘It was really tough the few times he needed to go to the hospital – and you had to wait 12 hours in the hospital. And all of this, the pandemic… anyway.

‘My father decided to go home to Jordan, and we took them with my mum, 89 and 87, to the airport. We are prepared for it.
‘Of course I was piece by piece.
‘I checked them all, turned around and they were both in wheelchairs. I hugged them and I started to cry.
‘I could see people looking at me, so I turned to my daughter for a second, turned around and they were gone!

‘It is true and the airport is heaving. It was like, no, they were gone.
‘I am so proud. My dad is now sitting with his brother in the sun, they sent me a picture of them in a restaurant with the family. ‘
She added: ‘I wanted them to be with me, I missed them, but when you say you really love someone, you let them go.
“It’s the right thing for them because it’s… I don’t think at the moment this is a great place to be elderly, in this country.”
Nadia’s father Nadim Sawalha is an English actor of Jordanian descent and his wife, Roberta Lane, also known as Betty, had three children together, including Nadia, in 1964.

Back in 2020, Nadia heaped praise on her parents after revealing they felt like they were a ‘burden’ amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking to Instagram, the Loose Women star shared a series of snaps of mom Roberta and dad Nadim, as she reassured them they were far from what they thought.
Captioning her post, Nadia forcefully wrote: ‘Not ‘old people’, not ‘vulnerable’, not ‘burden of ‘no’ sewers in the system’ as she claims that How much her parents mean to her.
The TV presenter shared some amusing moments of her mom and dad wearing a padded white hooded coat with fur trim, while they enjoyed a pork pie each.
Expressing how much her actor father disliked being defined that way, she continued: ‘Dad said he hated being defined that way. He hates the way the media has screwed up his generation and made them feel like a burden.
