The German was in charge at Manchester United after the Norwegian’s poor spell.

Problems on the field are one thing, but Rangnick is also dealing with a lot of fallout.

Henderson returns to Old Trafford for Solskjaer’s second full season and has his eye on David de Gea in the No 1 spot.

The chances are slim, though, and the goalkeeper is now out of England’s image.

At 24 is on his side but the shooter will be reluctant to wait for his chance.

Solskjaer claimed that Henderson would be a future star of the club but often accompanied De Gea in the biggest games of his tenure.

The England international, who is contracted until 2025, had previously stated: “Maybe I’ll get a chance. [to play for Man Utd], maybe I won’t, then I’ll have to look down another avenue”.

Meanwhile, Bailly faces battle to be a starter at Old Trafford again.

Signed by Jose Mourinho In 2016, the Ivory Coast player was in the starting XI for several seasons.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof last term were the preferred pair while Raphael Varane arrived in the summer and became the top choice.

Axel Tuanzebe is another option, but chose to borrow for this term.

Bailly’s determination is frequently underscored by his decision to return from international duty for the game with Burnley.

He was allowed to join Ivory Coast early ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Eric Bailly signed a new contract earlier this year but remains a team player

The 27-year-old signed a new contract earlier this year, keeping him at Manchester until 2024.

At the time the defender declared “the decision is something I don’t have to think about” but this season he has started just twice in the league.

Midfielder Jesse Lingard has turned down the club’s offer of a new contract and is set to leave on a free in the summer.

He, like Bailly and Henderson, has found opportunities hard to come by at Old Trafford although Solskjaer insists Lingard has a “big role”.
