Rangnick comments on Martial’s Man Utd future amid exit talks

Ralf Rangnick will start working to make his mark on the Manchester United squad once the January transfer window opens next month and the club could make some big moves.

The club are likely to sell two players from the starting XI – although one of them has been touted by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson as “our best player”.

Meanwhile, one of the other departures was a star who was a former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reported wanting to escape during the summer.

And with the festive fixtures set to begin soon, United have five first-team stars facing a possible one-match ban in the clash with Newcastle.

Player facing ban

Five United players could miss important games during the festive period if they receive one more yellow card.

With the Red Devils going to Newcastle on Monday, then hosting Burnley next Thursday, interim manager Ralf Rangnick will want every player available to ensure the club don’t fall behind. Premier League competitors in the race for Champions League football.

Manchester United appear to have finally cut their losses with centre-back Phil Jones.

Jones arrived at Old Trafford with much excitement when he joined the club from Blackburn Rovers in 2011.

And former manager Sir Alex Ferguson even made a very bold prediction about the defender in 2013.

But he has endured multiple injuries and fallen out of order at Old Trafford, and club and player now seem to agree that a move could be in the best interest of both.

Solskjaer’s advice

Another player who has finally left the club is Anthony Martial, whom former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have wanted to get rid of last summer.

The former United boss is said to be keen to reinvest the money from Martial’s departure elsewhere in the team – and is said to have been particularly frustrated by the lack of a defensive midfielder.

With Martial’s agent confirming this week that his client is looking for a move elsewhere – Solskjaer’s big transfer plans appear to be coming to fruition.
