EA Sports has removed Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood from FIFA 22 with immediate effect.

Greater Manchester Police released a statement on Sunday confirming a man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault after accusations of Manchester United and English football players.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed an arrest had been made and stated: “An investigation has been launched and according to the investigations we can confirm a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

“He remains in custody for questioning. Investigations are still ongoing.”

Following the allegations, United suspended Greenwood, saying the star would not play or train “until further notice.”

They added: “We will not be making any further comment until the facts are determined. Manchester United does not tolerate any form of violence.”

“The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon (Sunday 30/1) and remains in custody.

“The inquiries are ongoing and the victim is receiving expert assistance.
