The defendant testified that he had dismantled stolen cars in Bulandshahr and sold the parts on the black market.
Police in Noida recently announced they had busted a gang responsible for running a major auto and motorcycle theft across the National Capital Region (NCR). More than 150 vehicles were recovered from their possession.
As reported by PTI news agency, police claimed that the gang operated in NCR and would steal cars from here before dismantling each vehicle in Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh. These parts are then sold illegally on the black market. “Those arrested have been identified as Navyuddin alias Nabeenu, Tanveer Saifi, Shah Alam Rizwan and Mohit Kumar. They are being held by officers of Area 39 police station under the supervision of ACP (Noida zone 1). Ankita Sharma,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ranvijay Singh was quoted as saying.
Police officials also said that the enforcement team recovered at most two engines, one chassis, 74 rimless tires, 37 rimmed tires and 11 CNG gas cylinders from the defendants.
In recent times, car thefts have increased in many parts of Delhi and surrounding satellite cities. While entire vehicles are often stolen, there is also a particular high demand for alloys and LED luminaires that are easier to take off than entire vehicles.
It is advisable to park the vehicle in a well-lit location and preferably under the observation of a high-definition CCTV camera. While security systems such as engine locks, gear locks, brake locks and alarms can be halved by skilled thieves with nefarious intentions, it’s still a good idea to invest in one or more systems. This could potentially be a deterrent.
