There is concern that electric supercars will kill their spirits. A type of vehicle known for its loud roar, quirky design, and cornering ability that sends your internal organs swaying from side to side while the vehicle grips the road.
But electrification is coming, and how to handle that could mean the difference between a vehicle that wins over protesters or a vehicle that fails and gives the mob gas or nothing an extra equal. proof that everything will be ruined when adding batteries. McLaren’s Artura is more than just an engineering marvel built on an entirely new architecture; It is also sure to appeal to people with the idea of cramming an electric motor into a supercar.
Artura can go from 0 to 60 in three seconds. It’s a quick EV, and that’s thanks to the supercar’s plug-in hybrid setup. Paired with a twin-turbo V6 and an eight-speed transmission is a small electric motor powered by a 7.5 kWh battery pack. It adds more low-end torque when starting and when exiting corners while the petrol engine catches up.
On the more environmental front, according to the EPA, the Artura can travel 11 miles in electric-only mode. McLaren notes that it can go up to 15 if driving on the street more. It is not in the league of other PHEVs on the market, which offer a range of over 30 miles per charge. However, keep in mind that it’s a supercar with all the fun and excitement that comes with that package.
