If you’ve been following the couple’s new movie Netflix archives Harry & Meghanyou may have noticed several times the director, Liz Garbus, which was cut into a “video diary” shot by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In the first few minutes of the series, Harry is seen inside London Heathrow AirportVIP Windsor Suite speaks directly into his phone camera, saying emotionally:

“Hello, so here we are on, well, Tuesday, Wednesday, about March, we just finished two weeks. Our final push, the final stage of our royal engagements.”

He continued:

“My job is to keep my family safe. Due to the nature of being born in this position and everything that comes with it, the level of hate has been stirred over the past three years, especially towards my wife and son. [Archie]I am really worried for my family’s safety.”

The 38-year-old also revealed why they were filming themselves, adding:

“A friend of ours actually suggested that we record ourselves this time around.”

Meghan, back in Canada at the time, was seen sitting on the floor after showering, telling her camera:

“H is in London and I am here. I don’t even know where to start. Is this the first video log? I do not know. We talked about it. We keep talking about it, because we know that, right now it might not make sense, but one day it will.”

AKA – one day they might want to sell these videos?! Like they did in their expensive time deal with Netflix? This is speculation that they are currently in the hot seat!

Came to protect them on Friday while talking to The New York TimesManager, Liz Garbusthat statement is 15 hours The footage she received from Harry and Meghan, shot in the early months of 2020, convinced her to take on the project. She reflects:

“You’re right there with Harry in the Windsor Room dealing with the fact that he’s leaving the royal family for the first time in his life. Then there’s another clip with Meghan at home, alone, having just showered, towel-wrapped, no makeup, thinking about what their lives would really be like. It’s very personal, raw and powerful, and it makes me appreciate the incredible weight of their decision. It also confirms the choice I made about wanting to shed light on how this historic breakup happened.”

But not everyone feels that way. After seeing the candid clips, many on social media criticized the couple for releasing the personal footage despite claiming they left the royal family in search of more privacy.

First of all, haters questioned the speech Harry gave in January 2020, just hours after Megxit was announced. In it, he expressed his wish for his family to have a “quiet life” after his departure. Also, as Perezcious readers will recall, the father-of-two got his hands on some cases in the UK on privacy and his family’s safety. So it’s not hard to see why some people think that putting in video diaries (and clips of their children, Archie3 and Lily, 1,) somewhat hypocritical. React to the videos above Twitterannoyed viewer wrote:

“Then let me be blunt. Harry and Meghan, who moved to the US over concerns about their lack of privacy, have launched a Netflix series sharing ‘private’ text messages, photos from the date, video diaries and clips of their son. Understood.”

“Harry and Meghan recorded more than 15 hours of video diaries documenting Megxit’s departure from the UK. The plan after that is always to use it to make money.”

“For a couple who claim they care about their privacy, in less than half an hour, Harry and Meghan shared with the world ‘private’ text message exchanges, ‘private’ photos, and more. private’ from their dates, ‘private’ and ‘private’ video diaries. ‘ clip of their son #HarryandMeghanNetflix”

“Harry and Meghan – the most notable prostitutes of the century – want us to think that they just want privacy and live their lives. They did ‘video diary’ from the beginning. ‘Do not know why.’ Good grief. Really?”

“What a pathetic narcissistic couple”

Criticism has gone awry now, Harry and Meghan are speaking out! Through their spokesperson Ashley Hansen arrive NYT on Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex denied the accusations, insisting:

their statement The announcement of their decision to withdraw made no mention of privacy and reiterated their desire to continue their public role and obligations. Any other suggestions speak to a major point of this series. They are choosing to share their story, on their terms, but the tabloid media has created a completely false story that floods the press and public opinion. The truth is right in front of them.”

Fair score! At least by doing Netflix docuseries, they have some control over how their stories are told and what content gets included. Also, they shared Archie’s footage in the past, so we don’t think that’s ever been an issue for them — as long as they allow the content to go live. Also, Megxit is one of the biggest moments in British royal history, so it’s no surprise that they (or one of their friends) thought it would be smart to record them. That wild time! But the inclusion of it makes it seem like they only signed on to Netflix (and Harry’s upcoming memoir) as a way of making money! Even if the videos provide a rough look at their emotions during those crucial months. But what do you think?? Sound OFF (below)!
