Coach Peter Moody is considering heading into a Group 1 competition in Sydney with Millane after missing a start in the Golden Sandal.
A first winner of the Festival to be listed shares (1000m) in Flemington March 5, Millane is the first emergency for Group 1 Golden Sandals (1200m) at Rosehill on March 19.
Sydney’s wet weather, which forced the cancellation of Saturday’s Tancred Stakes meeting at Rosehill, will pose no problem for Sydney-bound Millane Group 1 ATC’s Sires Manufacturing Joint Stock Company (1400m) on Saturday.
Moody’s assistant coach Katherine Coleman said it was disappointing that Millane had missed a start in Yellow sandals.
But Zoustar’s son received extensive education in preparation for the beginning of the Sires’.
“He had a back jump at Pakenham with a few of our other horses on Tuesday morning,” Coleman said.
“It was a private leap because we were thinking of sending a few of our other horses to Sydney.
“He pleased us on that hit and all signs point to him going in that direction.”
Coleman said Millane’s performance at the Sires ‘will determine whether the foal stays in Sydney to contest the Group 1 Champagne Bet (1600m) two weeks later.
While Millane’s campaign continued for two-year-old Sydney races, one of Moody’s other children, Merchant Prince, was sent in for a blessing.
Merchant Prince ranked seventh in Group 1 Blue diamond shares (1200m) in Caulfield last month before placing seventh against Let’Srollthedice in Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) in Flemington on March 12.
