New Zealand businesses less pessimistic in September

WELLINGTON (Reuters) – New Zealand businesses were less pessimistic in September with a marked improvement in the construction sector, an ANZ Bank survey showed on Thursday.

The survey’s headline measurement showed that 36.7% of respondents expect the economy to worsen next year. It compared with 47.8% pessimism in the previous poll in August.

1.8% of respondents expect their business to shrink over the next 12 months, from 4% the previous month.
