In the Twitter post, RR posted a photo of Steve Smith checking the pitch with the words “Why isn’t this causing trouble for Rohit?” just minutes after the Indian captain completed his century record.
This was Rohit’s first Test century as captain and as a result he became the first Indian cricket team captain to score in a century in all forms. Overall, Babar Azam, Faf du Plessis And Tillakaratne Dilshan are the only other cricketers to have achieved this great feat in international cricket.
Rohit was eventually eliminated for 120 but not before receiving praise from both pundits and fans.
His batting on Day One impressed the former India head coach Ravi Shastriwho said: “When Rohit Sharma hits the ball, he won’t allow any pitcher to tackle. His form may dictate the terms in this BGT, not just because of the number of runs. what he’s going to achieve but also the speed he’s going to hit. The record as an opening pitcher is amazing.”
