Omicron scare: Domestic flyers drop 39% in 2 weeks; IndiGo to cut 20% capacity

NEW DELHI: With demand for travel suffered a heavy blow due to the strong increase Omicron case, India’s largest airline by passenger transport – Dark blue – decided to cut capacity by 20%. Like other airlines, they have waived the change fee as many people are changing their travel plans.

“Where possible, flight cancellations will be made at least 72 hours in advance and customers will be transferred to the next available flight and also change itineraries through the use of Plan B on the company’s website. we. Like most other airlines, IndiGo says it has waived change fees. “Due to the increasing number of Omicron infections, a large number of IndiGo customers are changing their travel plans. In response to customer demand, IndiGo will waive change fees and offer free changes to all new and existing bookings made through January 31, for flights through May 31. 3 in 2022,” it added.
The surge in Omicron cases has overshadowed the brief period of sunshine that India’s tourism industry has seen over the past few months.
The state’s fear of being infected, and their stricter testing and quarantine norms have led to a decrease in numbers and an increase in flight cancellations.
Bengal has limited domestic flights from Delhi and Mumbai. The hardest hit was metro-to-metro traffic due to a combined decline in business, leisure and visiting friends and family (VFR) trips.
