Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: 7 Star Poisonous Greninja Tera Raid Guide

Greninja is a fan-favorite (for very good reason) and now look forward to adding Pokemon Greninja to your team in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet finish. Right now, you can solve the 7-star Poison Greninja Tera Raid and take it home for yourself.
Greninja’s Water/Dark typing have good defense, great attack, and they have a great list of moves and stats that make them a welcome addition to any team, whether you’re building a team to tackle the Elite Four or competitive ranking system.
When can I catch Greninja?
This Tera Raid takes place in two waves, just like Charizard and Cinderace. The first event goes like this:
- January 27 – 29
- February 10 – 12
You’ll also be able to catch 4- and 5-star Bronzong and Lucario during the event, both of which are Pokemon with an edge against Water/Dark/Poison Greninja.
Before start
First, before you can even think about fighting Greninja, make sure you’ve completed all the preparations for the 7-star Tera Raid that I detailed in our article. Instructions on how to catch Charizard. Once that’s done, you’ll need to craft a Pokemon that can resist Greninja.
There are several top contenders for this, including Lucario, Clodsire and Bronzong, but my recommendation is slowly man. A power-packed Slowbro will keep you alive for a very long time, then take out Greninja with massive, super-effective damage.

You don’t even have to worry about what kind of Slowbro Tera is. I used the Grass Tera type and simply didn’t Terastalize, and I’m perfectly fine, although if you have a Psychic Tera type Slowbro that will double your Stored Energy damage which is a boon Good benefits, but the trade-off is that you lose resistance to Hydro Pump.
Build Pokemon to defeat Greninja
You can see a Tera Slowbro in the northwest swimming around on Lake Casseroya. Once you’ve caught them, you’ll want to visit the Hyper Trainer in the icy city of Montenevera (north part of the map) to max out all stats other than Attack.

To do this, you will need the Bottle Cap, which you can get from high level raids, fighting in the academy tournament and in the auctions in Porto Marinada.
Slowbro EVs to fight Greninja
Once your Slowbro’s IVs have been maxed out (again, except for the Attack stat we won’t be using), it’s time to max out the EVs. We want to max HP and Special Attack, will require 26 HP UP and 26 Calcium, which can be purchased at Chansey Supplies in Mezagoza (East). You can use one last Iron bar to give yourself a bit of Defense to perfect your EV.

Then use Exp. Candy XL (another Tera Raid bonus item) to get to Level 100 and then the last thing you need is to move.
Slowbro Move to fight Greninja
- reserve electricity (TM41)
- iron defense (TM104)
- nasty conspiracy (TM140)
- rest (Study on 33rd floor)
Slowbro naturally learns Slack Off, which you will use to heal in battle, so now you need to get the rest of the moves through the TM.

Stored energy can be found west of Los Platos in the starting area.
Nasty Plot can be found in Area 0 on the ledge above Research Station 2. Teleport there, run outside, back, use your Legendary mount to climb the cliff, then There you will be able to jump on another small ledge to get TM. You can also get the Nasty Plot by completing Professor Raifort’s history lessons, passing the final, catching all four Legendary Pokemon, then talking to the Professor.

Iron Defense is found in the Eastern Province (Area 3) just east of the fast-moving spot of the same name. It is located on a raised mesa in the middle of a pit.
Once all your moves, IVs, EVs, and level ups are taken care of, the last thing you need is your item. I recommend Leftovers. There are a few that can be found all over the world, but you can also buy them pretty cheaply.

Head to the Delibird Presents store east of Cascarrafa, located west of Paldea. Pick up the Leftovers for 20,000 yen, then equip it and it’s time to fight.
Greninja fighting
You can certainly fight Greninja online, but this build is good enough to beat him with the help of CPU trainers. When fighting alone, it’s much less important for your teammates to be killed, as that won’t reduce your timer the way it would if the player’s Pokemon would.

Greninja will start the fight with Double Team and Toxic Spikes, so you will get poisoned if you pass out (as will your teammates) but this won’t really matter, since we have Leftovers and Slack Off.

Start by casting Iron Defense three times, monitor your health, and use Slack Off instead, if you’re around 50% health.
Once you’ve completed Iron Defense three times, switch to Annoying Conspiracy, use those three times as well. Then go to your Cheers and use “Go All Out” once, then start using Stored Energy.

If Greninja removes the stat bonus for your Pokemon, you’ll have to start over, but don’t worry if the meter is running low. Once you’re all set up, the Stored Energy will deal a lot of damage. You’ll need to stagger a bit if Greninja builds a shield, but once you’ve staggered it, you should be able to knock it down in just 2 hits or so.
Meanwhile, you will take very little damage and you will have the ability to heal passively and actively. Using this method, you can catch Greninja on your first solo attempt.

Also, if you can get one or more CPU Pokemon with Intimidate, that will be even easier. In my first solo attempt, I was teamed up with Tauros, Arcanine and Staraptor to great success. three threats before the war begins.
Good luck!
