President Putin: The West must guarantee us about Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the West to provide immediate security guarantees to defuse the crisis caused by Russia’s military buildup near Ukraine’s border.
Putin has asked NATO to abandon military activities in Eastern Europe and not admit Ukraine as a member.
The Russian leader has drawn a “red line” over Ukraine and became agitated when he was asked on Thursday if he had guarantees that there would be no invasion.
“We’re not coming to the US or UK border, no, they’re coming to us,” he said, accusing Nato of having deceived Russia with five waves of expansion since the 1990s.
