Luke and Robert Price flew Jamaea but track conditions at Rosehill will decide if she runs or not

Dual Board winner Jamaea is thriving ahead of her upcoming quest in Racing & Sports Gold PendantNow co-coach Luke Price needs only a forecast of rain to avoid Rosehill.

While the mare can handle soft conditions, she is less efficient at heavyweight and if the run falls into that range, Price will wait another day.

But his preference is for Jamaea to take her place Group 7 gold pendant (1400m).

“Definitely I want to go around this week, she’s ready for it and I feel like she’s fine,” Price said.

“The improvement I want her to make from According to Marks (Stocks), she has done. We are finishing the race for third place perfectly.

“She drew a lovely barrier and going back to mare, I think she’s going to be extremely competitive.”

Winner of Percy Sykes Stakes in two and Furious Stakes in three, Jamaea wrote on the wall for another successful campaign with first place ahead of Zapateo in Toy Show Quality (1100m) and fourth behind Kiku in Theo Marks Stakes (1300m).

She stepped 1400m on Saturday, a distance she hasn’t been able to overcome in three attempts, but she has a good reason every time.

“It was a heavy track in Surround (Stakes) and she bravely escaped a bad barrier, Magic Millions (Guineas) It was a disaster, she never had a chance, and Golden Rose was speeding and up against some of the best three-year-old ponies walking around,” Price pointed out.

“She was perfectly prepared to run the powerful 1400-meter run, now we just need the weather gods by our side.”

If Jamaea doesn’t run, Price has several options up her sleeve, including refreshing her for next month. Sydney Share (1200m)or to a path that leads to Golden Eagle (1500m) on October 29.

Price also has All Machiavellian and Verbek at the Midway handicap (1300m) but like Jamaea, both want a more solid footing.

While the former would only run on softline 6 or better, Verbek can handle a bit worse and Price sees him as a life chance if he gets the right conditions.

“His win rate isn’t outstanding but he’s incredibly consistent and he maps really well to be hard to beat on Saturday,” Price said.
