Find out what the jockeys do with their stands after Group 1 $4 million Dollar Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick.
Nash Rawiller (Think Again): “What a horse. It’s just disappointing with the fall like the way it turns out with all the wet tracks. You know the good guys who can figure out how to win? I trotted down the outer fence, went to the fence in one of them earlier in the day and thought ‘I’ll keep this for later’.
“Even going down that side I was sitting outside the fence. We’re just trying to keep him in the clear. I thought he would run well for a second, but when he touched that fresh grass, he walked away.
“I still knew I was in the race because I didn’t really have feelings for him. I still keep him on the reins, but I know he will. He’s just that kind of horse. Even that time when it was wetter, he could have been beaten two paragraphs behind the big mare (Chipping Norton behind Verry Elleegant).
“The reason why he would bet like that is the condition and it’s just a funny thing about how it works. When I’m standing up straight, I think ‘it’s worth going’ to go outside. I just feel like that’s where the ambulance drives and all the tractors run up the outer fence. For my bloke it was like going from a heavy 9 to a slow 6 he could handle. When he can handle the track, he does it, he’s a very good horse. ”
Jamie Kah (Zaaki): “Great effort. I thought if the victor was closer to him he would be in the air battle but he can’t really see him. Again, a lot of effort.”
William Pike (Popa Mountain): “Really good. Cheeky run. He played brilliantly.”
Mark Zahra (I’m Thunderstruck): “Haven’t disgraced myself. Take it as an opportunity in the first leg. 2000m and Heavy 10 were probably better for him late. “
Chad Schofield (Dalasan): “Run bravely. Travel well on the box chair. When Zaaki is quick, it really puts me off. ”
James McDonald (Verry Elleegant): “She worked really hard.”
Josh Parr (Duais): “Just going back a long way in such a test field, it’s impossible to get them in.”
Hugh Bowman (Montefilia): “Too good Nash.”
Tommy Berry (Anamoe): “We had a nice run in transport. Really didn’t handle the 600 to 400 track and lost a lot of confidence at the time. ”
