Sydney Queen Of The Ball visitor landed the prize at Scarborough Stakes in Moonee Valley

Blake Shinn has always considered Moonee Valley to be one of his favorite tracks but doesn’t know the last time he rode the winner under the lights at the track.

He rectified that situation on Friday night as he guided visitors to the Queen Of The Ball in Sydney to an easy win in Group 2 Scarborough Shares (1200m).

Jumping straight ahead, Queen Of The Ball ($6) races to win 1½ from Troach ($0.9.50) with a $3.20 British Riviera favorite with a profit about third.

“It’s great to be here in Moonee Valley, it’s one of my favorites,” said Shinn.

“I’ve had some great memories here and getting to ride victory on a big night, it’s been so much fun.”

Shinn is on her maiden voyage on a ship coached by Michael Freedman.

Double winner Group 3 at the age of three, Shinn said she is a talented and high-speed person.

“It was an endurance run in the Slipper and she trained when she was three years old (age).

“We mastered the race from the start and used her pace. Once I controlled it from the front, it was difficult for us to run down because I was able to step back in the middle of the race and then I accelerated.

“It is one of her best assets and fighting qualities. When I got there in the middle of the race, I put it on Craig (Williams, on Troach) and the best horse won the race.

“She has a good fighting spirit. She’s strong at 1200 meters and who knows where she might end up.

“Michael could go to Coolmore or maybe aim a little lower, but I think she’s a high-quality person.”
