Rajnath Singh hands over multiple indigenous weapons to Army | India News


NEW DELHI: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday handed over many indigenous weapons to the Indians Army in an effort to increase combat capabilities in the East Ladakh against the backdrop of a persistently volatile relationship with China along the Line of Actual Control.
New equipment received by the Army includes unmanned aerial systems, rapid response combat vehicles, patrol boats and surveillance equipment.
The Army has also received the ‘Future Infantry Soldier System’, the ‘Nipun’ anti-personnel mine, a mobile protected infantry vehicle, an automated and reliable communication system, a aiming system Upgrades for tanks and advanced thermal cameras.
Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the equipment and systems will enhance the operational readiness of the Indian Army and increase their effectiveness. “It’s a shining example of the country’s growing resilience, in partnership with the private sector and other organisations,” he said.
Also, new boats, Landing Craft Assault (LCA), equipped with advanced monitoring devices and other equipment, is being deployed to keep a strict vigilance towards Pangong Tso Lake.
“There are boats operating in Pangong Tso Lake, however, they have limited capacity. LCA is much more flexible and has overcome the limitations of launching, speed and capacity. It has advanced. the ability to operate on water obstacles in East Ladakh,” the defense ministry confirmed.
The Secretary of Defense affirmed that the infrastructure needs of the Armed Forces are increasing with the time of constant change. He called for the development of infrastructure based on the latest technology to help the Armed Forces be prepared for the challenges of the future.
Meanwhile, the Indian and Chinese militaries have agreed to soon come up with an acceptable solution to the remaining issues in eastern Ladakh during their 16th high-level talks.
A joint statement issued by the two sides reaffirmed that resolving pending issues would help restore peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the region and promote progress in bilateral relations.
