Ralf Rangnick evaluates Newcastle draw

After 16 days of not playing, there was a distinct sense of excitement among the Manchester United supporters ahead of Monday’s clash with Newcastle United in the Premier League.

However, that wait quickly turned to disappointment at St James’ Park.

Ralf Rangnick saw his side squirm in long games against the relegation-threatened Warblers and they were finally fortunate to come back from the northeast with a draw of 1. -first.

Edinson Cavani’s finish in the second half was enough to destroy Allan Saint-Maximin’s opening goal.

Unsurprisingly, there has been plenty of opinion shared about the team’s performance, with home clashes with Burnley and the upcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rangnick was unhappy with some of Sancho’s games on Monday.

Rangnick is mad at Sancho

Manchester United caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick could be heard shouting obscenities at Jadon Sancho minutes after bringing the winger into the game on Monday.

The former Borussia Dortmund star was left out of the line-up for the game at St James’ Park, although Rangnick turned to him at half-time in an attempt to bring some offensive shots into the team’s play.

It was reported that the German was displeased when Sancho passed a cross, prompting the 63-year-old to say “no, no such thing!”

After the game, Rangnick also criticized his players and the number of fundamental mistakes they made in the 1-1 draw.

Martial’s approach is rejected

Sevilla’s approach to Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is said to have been turned down.

The French striker looks set to leave the Red Devils this January, after falling to Old Trafford.

On Tuesday, reports emerged suggesting La Liga outfit Sevilla had made Martial an offer to loan him out for the rest of the campaign. However, United are said to have turned down the offer, as it would only pay half of the player’s wages.

The former Monaco sharpshooter is said to be on a salary of around £200,000 a week for United, a sum that could make it difficult for any potential suitors if he is not willing to accept a pay cut.

Maguire gave the reason why Newcastle rusted

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire attributed the club’s recent closure of the training ground to their lackluster performance against Newcastle.

The recent outbreak of Covid-19 in the camp has resulted in the closure of the Carrington facility and has hampered the team’s preparation for the busy festival period.

After the game, Maguire admitted the team underplayed on Monday, but said there were mitigating factors for their sloppy performance.

He said: “The training ground has been closed, half of the players playing today are recovering from the virus. “So, of course, it’s not going to help us. We don’t want to use it as an excuse, but of course it has a big impact on the game.”
