Report says Call Of Duty 2023 will be a “full” game connected to modern warfare

Will there be a new Call of Duty game in 2023? It’s been the subject of a lot of speculation lately. Now, a report says Activision will continue with a “full premium standalone release” in 2023. Before that, it was reported that Activision would choose to release a “premium DLC” for Modern Warfare II. instead of a new game in 2023.

Internal games reported that this “seemed to be true at one point”, but now Activision has decided to release a full game. Little is known about what COD 2023 might be, but Insider-Gaming has reported that it will be “closely related” to the Modern Warfare series.

The report says Sledgehammer Games is the reported COD 2023 developer, but like Activision’s other Call of Duty games, development will be distributed among many of Activision’s other studios.

Insider-Gaming went on to report that COD 2023 will feature two weeks of testing, an early access campaign phase, and a “full marketing strategy” in line with previous major Call of Duty games.

Things could change, but for now, Insider-Gaming has reported that COD 2023 will launch on November 10, with early access to the campaign starting November 2. Beta weekend will follow out October 6-10 (for PlayStation) and October 12-16 (for everyone), the report said.

During an earnings call this week, Activision reiterated that the company will launch the “next annual full premium release” in the Call of Duty series by the end of 2023. A report from Bloomberg said Activision would follow tradition and skip the traditional main Call of Duty release in 2023.

Reporter Jason Schreier shed some light on the situation, saying that the Black Ops studio Treyarch had planned to release a new Call of Duty game in 2023. In early 2022, Activision delayed Treyarch’s game to 2024. , Schreier said, and instead chose to “fill in the gaps” with additional Modern Warfare content from Sledgehammer. Now, he reports, Activision has decided to “frame it as a full release.”

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella says if Activision doesn’t release a new mainline Call of Duty game this year, it could have a major, long-term negative impact on the video game industry.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II in 2022 is a revenue travesty, set a record for franchising since 2003. The long wait The Season 2 update arrives on February 15th.

Microsoft is in the process of trying to buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, and it would be the largest video game acquisition ever. It’s not a done deal, though, like The FTC sued Microsoft to try to block the deal.
