Ricky Hatton believes Joshua made a mistake by leaving Rob McCraken

Ricky Hatton weighed in on Anthony Joshua’s training situation and claimed ‘AJ’ should never have parted ways with longtime mentor Rob McCracken.
McCracken has worked with Joshua since his Team GB daysbefore the Briton chose to go with Robert Garcia ahead of his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk last August.
And Hatton claimed that McCracken could have stopped Joshua’s post-fight antics, for which he is receiving heavy criticism.
Talking to Big CasinoHatton says:
“There is no reason for AJ to leave McCraken. No one understands him better than Robert McCracken, he’s been there with him since the Olympics, he’s been there with him for his first world title, so no one understands him better than Robert .’
“I was a bit disappointed with his final team because when he was defeated by Usyk, poor Anthony, he looked like he was having a bit of a breakdown in the ring. Your job as a coach isn’t just to do those 12 three-minute rounds and when the final bell rings, that’s your job done. No, your job is to take care of your fighter until he leaves the venue.”
“Rob will control the situation throughout the day. But no, he let him toss his belt through the ring, burst into the ring, scream and groan, then grab the mic and do all that. I almost cried for him. He had a really bad time with it.
The former unified world champion decided to change coaches again, parting ways with Garcia despite only spending one camp under the American leadership.
Although there is no official confirmation, it looks like Joshua will move to Texas and work under Derrick James before the fight back in April.
James was the Ring Magazine coach in 2017 and now boasts the likes of Errol Spence Jr and Jermell Charlo in his cage.
