India International cricketer Rishabh Pant was hospitalized after being injured in a car crash in the northern state of Uttarakhand on Friday.
The state’s minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, confirmed the news on Twitter, wishing Pant, 26, a “quick recovery”.
The Pant vehicle collided with a median and caught fire in the early hours of Friday, CNN affiliate CNN News-18 reported, citing police.
Jay Shah, secretary of the Cricket Control Commission in India, said the hitter was “stable and being tested”.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to Rishabh Pant as he battles to recover,” Shah wrote on Twitter. “We are closely monitoring his progress and will provide him with any necessary support.”
Pant is one of India’s rising stars and was recently named a brand ambassador for his home state of Uttarakhand, according to CNN News-18.
Several cricketers took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery.
Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting said he was thinking of Pant. “Hope you’re recovering and getting back on your feet soon,” he wrote Friday.
“Wishing Rishabh a speedy and complete recovery! Be careful,” wrote Indian cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir.
Harsha Bhogle, a prominent Indian cricket commentator, said he was “very hopeful he is fine and recovers soon”.
