Rohit Sharma scores in 9th century test, becoming first India captain to score A Ton in all three disciplines

Continuing his superlative from ODI, Rohit Sharma ended a long wait for a hundred Tests when he scored his ninth goal of the century in the longest form of the game in the First Test against Australia in Nagpur. Back in September 2021, Rohit last scored a triple-digit score, doing so against England in the Oval Office. The year and a half wait was over when he again achieved a triple digit score on Day 2 of the Nagpur Test. In the process, he became the first Indian captain to score multiple points in all three modes of the game.
Rohit scored with a good pace in the Opening Test, after his half-century with a hit rate above 80, finished Day 1 with a score of 56 out of 69 balls. His strike rate fell on the second day as he reached the 9-hundredth point in the longest form of the game with 171 balls, but that was the result of the constantly falling shots. at the other end of the field.

His batting on Day One impressed the former India head coach Ravi Shastriwho said: “When Rohit Sharma hits the ball, he won’t allow any pitcher to tackle. His form may dictate the terms in this BGT, not just because of the number of runs. what he’s going to achieve but also the speed he’s going to hit. The record as an opening pitcher is amazing.”
On Day 2, Rohit was struggling to find a life partner that would last. The likes of R Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav all left without contributing much with the racket as Australian spinner Tod Murphy rebelled. Murphy won three more championships on Day 2 by the time Rohit hit his triple-digit score. Nathan Lyon also won a lone match, knocking out Suryakumar Yadav.
India, who restricted Australia to just 177 runs in the first inning, did not show as much confidence with the racquet as when they had the ball. Aside from Rohit’s strike, none of the hitters really understood the nature of the pitch.
