Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in Miami with 48 cases of Covid-19
According to reports, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in Miami with 48 cases of COVID-19.
After docking at PortMiami, after a seven-day cruise over the weekend, the ship with more than 6,000 passengers reported COVID cases, even many of whom tested positive were vaccinated.
According to a statement, “The cruise ship sailed with 95% of the community on board fully vaccinated and 98% of those who tested positive were fully vaccinated,” according to Royal Caribbean.
The Centers for Disease Control said the Symphony of the Sea and the ship were being observed.
Royal Caribbean spokesman Lyan Sierra-Caro told NPR, “all are asymptomatic but only mildly symptomatic. We don’t have any serious cases on board.”
Positive COVID cases were recorded after “contacting a passenger who tested positive” NPR Report.
It was also reported that “each person was quickly quarantined. All those who tested positive were asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and we are continuously monitoring their health,” according to a statement from Royal Caribbean International.
The ship has now docked at the port of Cozumel, Mexico.
