Flights out of Russia are almost fully booked this week.

A day after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s call for encouragement, for the first time since World War II, a one-way ticket leaves Russia sold out quickly and ticket prices skyrocketed. The president’s speech raised concerns that martial law could be imposed and that men of combat age would not be allowed to leave Russia, media reports said.

A clip shared by global flight-tracking service FlightRadar24 shows one-way flights leaving Russia, after Google Trends data showed a spike in searches for Aviasales, the flight-buying website Russia’s most popular, Reuters reported.

Flights out of Russia were almost fully booked this week, airlines and travel agency data showed on Wednesday, AFP report. Flights between Russia and the European Union have been closed since Putin announced Moscow’s “special military operation” in Ukraine.

Putin yesterday declared a “partial mobilization“calling for 300,000 reservists in the massive escalation of the invasion of Ukraine.

“When the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will certainly use all means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people,” Putin said in his speech. televised on Wednesday. “This is not a hoax.”
