Sega and Creative Assembly announce Hyenas, a non-G FPS with a twist

Sega and Creative Assembly, the developers behind Alien: Isolation and Total War games, has revealed a brand new multiplayer first person shooter called Hyenas on Wednesday. The new game, coming to consoles and PC, puts players in the role of a group of scavengers battling to steal “priceless pop culture loot from Martian billionaires and rival groups.” . As seen in Hyenas‘reveals the trailer, that loot includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Rubik’s Cubes, and well-preserved rye pastrami from Katz’s Delicatessen.

According to the official description of the game, in the fantasy of Hyenas:

The Earth is gone, the rich have taken over Mars, and the rest of humanity is living their worst lives in The Taint, a giant slum that orbits. While humanity is trying to survive, Martian billionaires are more worried about fulfilling their nostalgic dreams. Plunderships, giant retail spaceships that sell pop culture artifacts salvaged from Earth, our artifacts, at sky-high prices to satisfy their desires.

Matches in Hyenas takes place in zero gravity, using futuristic weapons and defensive measures, like protective foam that can imprison your enemies or set up walls quickly. Interested players can register to participate an alpha test for Hyenas at the game’s official website.

Hyenas will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Release date has not been announced.
