Do I need to isolate if I have a cold?

There is no legal requirement to stay home if you have any symptoms of a cold or other common illness – it’s just Government guidance.

The guidance, updated on 1 April, from GOV.UK says: “UKHSA guidance stipulates that people with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19 and those with If you have a high temperature or feel unwell, try to stay at home and avoid contact with others.

“Those who are asked – or choose to be tested – and receive a positive COVID-19 result should try to stay home and avoid contact with others for 5 days after the date of the positive result.”
