sri lanka: Sri Lanka ministers resign en masse: education chief
All 26 ministers except President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his brother Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa submits his resignation, education minister Dinesh Gunawardena told reporters.
While, Namal RajapaksaSri Lanka’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, have resigned from all of his portfolios.
“I informed second. to the Chairman my resignation of all investment portfolios effective immediately, in the hope that it may assist the Directors and Prime Minister in deciding to establish stability for the people and the government of #LKA. I remain committed to my voters, my party and the people of #Hambanthota,” Namal Rajapaksa said in a tweet.

This comes hours after the Sri Lankan Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday denied reports of Prime Minister Rajapaksa’s resignation and called them “false” and added that there are currently no such plans. so.
Sri Lanka is currently facing a foreign exchange shortage resulting in shortages of food, fuel, electricity and gas and has sought economic support from friendly countries.
The island nation’s currency has also depreciated by almost SLR 90 against the US dollar since March 8, and it is seeing power cuts that last for hours.
The streets of Colombo looked deserted on Sunday, as a curfew was imposed on the city following a 36-hour nationwide curfew that went into effect following protests outside President Gotabaya’s residence Rajapaksa.
Protests organized by the public were reported from small streets, apartment complexes and many areas around the country.
The Cabinet Ministers are currently holding an emergency cabinet meeting with the President and Prime Minister. English newspaper Daily Mirror reported.
Namal had previously criticized the government’s decision to block the internet.
“I will never condone social blocking. The availability of VPNs, like I’m using now, renders such bans completely useless. I urge the authorities to think. progress and reconsider this decision,” he tweeted.
