Taiwan separatist attempts will ‘end badly’ – China — RT World News

Beijing has warned that the so-called independence movement in Taiwan will not lead to “anything good”.

Beijing’s Defense Minister Wei Fenghe asserted that Taiwan belongs to China and the matter belongs to China on Tuesday in a video speech to an international security conference in Moscow.

He noted that secessionist movements on the island promote the so-called “Taiwan’s Independence” will “Bad ending” and that any attempt to assist them from abroad would “Doesn’t lead to anything good.”

Wei reiterated Beijing’s condemnation of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit to Taipei, which the Defense Secretary called “Complete the farce” and a serious relationship to “The political foundation of Sino-American relations.”

China has conducted an unprecedented series of exercises around Taiwan since Pelosi ignored warnings from Beijing and visited Taipei to meet the island’s leader earlier this month.

The latest exercises were held on Monday as the Chinese Navy and fighter jets were deployed to the Taiwan Strait to conduct a number of multi-service exercises as a “Severe Deterrence Against the United States” as well as another delegation of elected US officials went there on Sunday.

“We have the confidence and courage to defeat all intruders and will defend the territorial integrity with steadfast will and strong ability” declared Wei during Tuesday’s conference because Beijing asserts that visits to the island by US officials undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Beat Washington for using “Cheap political tricks” threaten “Peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” China’s military has committed “Continue to train and prepare for war” and warned it would “Resolutely smash all forms of ‘Taiwan independence’ secession and foreign interference.”

China considers Taiwan an inviolable part of its territory. However, since 1949, it has been de facto independent after the losing party in the Chinese Civil War – the nationalists – fled to the island and established their own government there. Taiwan is officially recognized by more than a dozen countries. While the United States is not among them, Taipei has long enjoyed close informal relations with Washington, and American lawmakers and officials regularly visit the island. However, visits by more senior American figures in Beijing are seen as tacit confirmation of Taiwan’s independence.
