“The environment in Indian cricket at the moment is…”: Former India player backs KL Rahul amid criticism

Team India won 188 runs against Bangladesh in the first Test of a two-game series in Chattogram. Shubman carries smashing his maiden Test Torture while Cheteshwar Pujara completed its century after a three-year hiatus, when India posted a goal of 513 runs. In return, Bangladesh is ranked 324th, with Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav replicate four and three wicks respectively. In the absence of their regular captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul led Team India in the match but couldn’t shine with batman. In the two innings, the opener scored only 22 and 23 runs.

Rahul, who has faced harsh criticism for his patch, has been assisted by the former India player Aakash Choprawho stated that people were “changing their minds” because they wanted the Karnataka hitter to be disqualified just because some other player was doing well.

“There is not much to see from India’s point of view. You want KL Rahul to score because he’s a great player. It’s not that he became a bad player, but the Indian cricket environment right now is where people blame Rahul whenever something bad happens. They are asking when Rahul will be disqualified. In India, when someone does well, we want the other person to be disqualified. We are very changeable, we change our opinion very quickly. It seems that there is no player more normal than KL Rahul right now because that environment has been created,” Chopra said on her YouTube channel.

Regarding the ongoing second game against Bangladesh, Chopra said that Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara need to maintain their batting form in Dhaka and the star hitter Virat kohli should take the opportunity and smash a ton.

“I’m looking for first-round runs from Shubman Gill because you’re going to need runs there. Cheteshwar Pujara – again, a similar style. Run away from Virat Kohli’s bat. We were told that Cheteshwar scored a century after so many years. The truth is that the last century of Virat Kohli came in the Pink Ball Trials at the Garden of Eden with Bangladesh in 2019. Then a century of Trials did not come. He also didn’t play too much cricket but also didn’t score too many runs in any of the matches he played. So you expect his bat runs, that he also scores a century,” Chopra said.

Speaking of the Second Test, India are 19 who did not lose in their first leg at the tree stump on the opening day of the Second Test against Bangladesh here on Thursday.
