‘The Sims 4’ players can now customize their character pronouns

and developer Maxis is bringing a welcome inclusion to . Starting today, you will be able to pronouns of your Sims. This feature is only available in the English version of The Sims 4 for now. EA and Maxis plans to improve it over time and make it available in more languages. They say it’s “a step in the direction of a more holistic experience for Simmers.”

A screenshot of this feature shows that players will be able to enter any pronoun they like into the text box. The setting tells how pronouns will also work in context – for example, “he/she/they want a grilled cheese.”

The developers worked with and the It Gets Better Project for a deeper understanding of pronouns’ impact and usage. The organizations helped the team understand where and how binary representations of gender are used in the game.

even though The Sims 4 Originally released in 2014, EA and Maxis have continued to support the game with expansion packs and updates. It has one too. Based on , The Sims 4 was one of the top 10 most played games in the US for the first three months of this year, beating the likes of Missile Federation and Elden Ring.
