Tim Tszyu beats Terrell Gausha in his US debut!


Via Ken Hissner: At the Minneapolis Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Saturday on Showtime Bob Arum (Top Rated) and the Senior Boxing Event presented in the Main Event, Australian super Welterweight champion Tim Tszyu is undefeated and 1st. The first-place WBO came out in the first round dominating and defeating 2012 American Terrell Gausha in 12 rounds.

In a co-match, the undefeated WBA Dominican lightweight second-placer Michel “La Zarza Ali” Rivera defeated the previously undefeated Joseph Adorno through 10 rounds.

In the main event WBO Global Super Welter Champion, Tim Tszyu, 21-0 (15), #153 ½, of Rockdale, New South Wales, Australia, beat Olympian Terrell Gausha 2012, 22-3-1 (11) , #153 ¼ , of Cleveland, OH, on 12 laps.

In the first half, with one minute left, Gausha landed on Tszyu’s chin as referee Mark Nelson counted eight penalties. He was trying to get through the round. He suffered a small cut on his forehead from the impact on his head.

In the eleventh round, when Tszyu had half a minute left, he let Gausha in defense take too many punches. In the twelfth and final round, Tszuy lunged forward to attack as Gausha landed a left hook to the chin and then fell back into the rope. In the last minute, Gausha fought back until Tszyu once again put him on the rope with a barrage of punches.

In the co-feature, WBA lightweight 2nd place Michel “La Zarza Ali” Rivera, 23-0 (14), #136, of Santo Domingo, DR, and Miami, FL, beat Joseph “Bless Hands” Adorno, 14 -1-2 (12), #136 ¼, of Allentown, PA, over 10 innings.

In the first two innings, Rivera controlled with an effective jab towards Adorno. In the third round, Adorno used a double left hook to the chin to counter Rivera’s stabs. In the fourth and fifth innings, Rivera returned to control with his stab.

In the seventh inning, both rights landed on the chin at the same time in one round Adorno was won. In the eighth and ninth rounds, Rivera continued to control with her stabs. In the tenth and final round, when it looked like he needed a knockdown, Adorno continued to move backwards for most of the time allowing Rivera’s stab to take another round.
