Fox News is a network that needs no introduction, but in case you’re new to the planet, here’s a quick tidbit: One of the worst things that happened in the 20th century, Fox was probably is at least partly responsible for the collapse of democracy and is certainly responsible for many of the horrendous views many Americans have adopted. On any given day its server is par with Russian propaganda, claim a violent uprising is not an uprising, attack school shooting survivors, destructive vaccination efforts, ghost Immigrantsand Outright racist trade. We could say more, but you’ll understand: Fox News is truly terrible, and a stain on humanity.
So when copper stain on humanity Cotton Tom appeared online on Wednesday to talk about his opposition to Ketanji Brown Jackson joining the Supreme Court, he may think that the gang will unequivocally agree with his views, and may even throw something at the country blessed with someone like him. I’m in Washington. But apparently his most recent attack on Jackson – in which he suggested she would defend the Nazis during the Nuremberg trial for crimes against humanity – even prompted Fox to News must be paused. Yes, Fox!
“You made some news yesterday with a comment you made about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson that I would like to ask you, regarding her right to defense while she was a public defender. federal community of Guantanamo Bay prisoners,” neo John Roberts speak. “Again, she was in the federal public defender’s office at the time, she said she didn’t get to pick and choose her client — this is really a matter of due process. litigation — and I’m wondering why make that connection between Judge Jackson and the Nazis and the Nuremberg trial? ”
To this, Cotton noted that Jackson also defended one of the detainees while practicing privately. What he seemed to think was a wise point would get Roberts to say something along the lines of “Oh, okay, I didn’t realize that, yes, it certainly makes sense to say she would stand towards the perpetrators of the Holocaust that followed. Thank you for bringing that to our attention, Tom. ”
Instead, Roberts again essentially asked the senator what his problem was. “Yes. So you don’t think it’s a bridge too far to make links with Nuremberg and Nazi Germany?” Roberts asked.
Clearly, Roberts’ line of questioning isn’t too strong or proportionate to Cotton’s silly claims about Jackson (and quite possibly, now, possibly. Tucker Carlson will open the night by praising the Nazi affiliation). Still, the protest perhaps still surprised the senator from Arkansas, to whom many others appealed more enthusiastically. “Using the Nazi analogy as some twisted way to attack Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is reprehensible,” Anti-Defamation League speak in a statement. “We’ve said it a thousand times and we’ll say it again: Stop trivializing the Holocaust for political gain.” On Twitter, California Democrat Representative Eric Swalwell note Essentially, Cotton suggests that “criminal defendants should have no legal representation” and that “the senator’s preferred justice system is . . . the kind of justice served by dictators.”
And in an appearance on Morning Joe on Wednesday, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Jaime Harrison called Cotton “the little man infested with maggots” and said, “in the Senate where Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham, Tom Cotton is the lowest of the low. He added that Cotton is essentially everything wrong with the Republican Party, “a party built on fraud, fear, and fascism.”
