The British star, 23, was scheduled to meet Paul, 25, in the ring last year but was forced to withdraw from their planned game in December with a broken rib and chest infection. The duo has been since then negotiated for several weeks after Paul announced rings back on August 6 without a validator.
On Wednesday, Paul issued an ultimatum to Fury on social media, tweeting: “Tommy Fury, you withdrew last year. Then you agree to fight me now but your dad is try to pull you out again We gave you everything asked for 2 million dollars wallet VADA test Tampons You have 24 hours to solve this problem if not I will never give you this chance again.”
Fury then confirmed him intends to accept Paul’s offer of a $2 million (£1.6m) wallet and has now announced that he has signed on to fight. In one Instagram video, he said: “Just to let all of you know, the fight on August 6 is on.
“The contract was signed after weeks of waiting for Jake Paul to sign up for a drug test and potentially risking the war, he’s finally signed up for a drug test. We’ve agreed a contract that we’re happy with, so the fight goes on and I’ll see you guys again on August 6.”
Fury accused Paul on social media of only accepting a VADA drug test for the fight after the threat of the contest being called off altogether. New doubts arose on Wednesday about the state of the war after Fury’s father John confirms it’s not him and heavyweight champion Tyson will be able to come to New York to attend.
Fury had previously fought Anthony Taylor for Paul’s first win without his father John and brother Tyson. In response, Paul attacked his opponent in a lengthy video and accused him of dragging his feet in an unlikely fight deal. Then he made an offer fights without his trainer to make up for Fury not having his team in the United States.

“What’s the reason?”, Paul said in an introductory video to Twitter. “‘Oh, I can’t come and I can’t do it because my dad can’t be there with me during the war.” Tommy, your dad has been banned from the United States for 15 years. You’ve known this all along. He is a criminal. He is not allowed in.
“When you fight Anthony Taylor in Cleveland, neither Tyson nor your father will be there with you on your US debut. I will agree to not have my team around me during fight week. I will agree. not fighting my trainer in my corner. We can both go solo like Devin Haney would do with George Kambosos. This is what real boxers do.”
An announcement is imminent with both boxers expected to face off during the press conference announcing the event in New York next week.
