Antonio Conte says transfer window won’t solve Tottenham’s ‘situation’

Tottenham had a relatively successful first transfer window with the leadership of Antonio Conte.

The Italian coach is known to be very demanding with his bosses when asking them to recruit the standard of players he demands.

Earlier, he described the club’s need to “work hard the way we are and continue to improve the level of our players”.

Director of football Fabio Paratici has certainly brought in some exciting talent, although fans have criticized the club for not necessarily strengthening in all the areas they need.

But despite that criticism, the club have made two exciting acquisitions and moved away five players deemed no longer needed – including favorite Dele Alli.

Fabio Paratici certainly used his connections at his old club Juventus as Spurs confirm the exciting captures of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from the Italian side.

Spurs beat Aston Villa and Lyon to the signature of Argentinian midfielder Bentancur, while Swedish winger Kulusevski has also been linked with fierce rivals Arsenal.

Conte and Paratici hope Kulusevski can ease Harry Kane’s scoring burden and add some much-needed creativity to his new team.

Bentancur will help make his new side more direct while adding some much-needed steel in the middle of the park.

Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele were the main departures of the month for Spurs – both arriving in the final hours of the window.

Club record signing Ndombele has returned to former club Lyon, who paid a £1.2m loan fee, with the deal giving them the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for a fee The fee is said to be around £54 million.

Dele joins Frank Lampard’s Everton in the latest announcement of the day as the former England international moves to Goodison Park for a fee that could run up to £40m based on his performances.

Giovani Lo Celso has also been allowed to join Unai Emery’s Villarreal while Bryan Gil joins Valencia, both on loan deals until the end of the season.

Clarke, 21, has joined Sunderland until the end of the season and hopes more exposure to first-team football will help with his development.
