Uber driver stabbed to death by random passenger who decided to ‘kill someone’


One New Orleans Police Department workers decide to use their free time to earn extra money by driving for Uberbut she doesn’t know that this business venture will lead to her untimely death…

Yolanda Dillion is a financial analyst for NOPD, who took a second job for a ride-hailing service, regularly transporting her passengers around The Big Easy. However, around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Responding to reports of a crash only to find Yolanda’s car parked in a hotel parking lot. They found the 54-year-old woman in her car, with “multiple stab wounds”. Sadly, just a short time after arriving at the hospital, the woman passed away from her injuries.

It wasn’t long before the officers had a suspect. Law enforcement teamed up with Uber to narrow down who the last passenger Yolanda picked up was and soon they were able to identify him as 29 years old. Brandon Jacobs (picture above). According to the JPSO investigation, Jacobs stabbed Dillion “several times”:

“Our investigation revealed that the victim was an Uber driver who drove Jacobs from a location in New Orleans to the hotel. When the ride was over, Jacobs stabbed her repeatedly before getting out of the car. Jacobs was later arrested at the hotel.”

When interviewing him, the suspect told police that the reason he killed the woman was almost exclusively because he felt this way:

“After his arrest, Jacobs was interviewed by our investigators. He admitted to stabbing the victim at the end of the ride. He told detectives that he picked his victims at random because he wanted to kill someone.”

Even more disturbing, Jacobs appeared to blame the app for the callous murder, according to what the Sheriff Joseph Lopinto was shared with Related press:

“He said he woke up yesterday morning and decided to kill someone. We specifically asked him, ‘How did you choose her?’ His response was, ‘I didn’t choose her, Uber chose her.’”

The sheriff also revealed the gruesome crime was filmed and posted to Facebook before it was taken down after JPSO worked with the platform.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson told CNN on Friday, the entire department is treating the 54-year-old’s death as “pretty tough”. An Uber spokesperson also spoke to the outlet and said it is “extremely concerned by this senseless attack”:

“Our thoughts are with Yolanda’s family, and we are reaching out to them with our condolences and support. We are actively working with the police in their investigation.”

What a heartbreaking and senseless murder. May Yolanda rest in peace and get the justice she deserves.
