Police believe they have found who stabbed a couple in Daytona Beach earlier this month – all with the help of a waitress who served the suspect several hours before he was charged. crime.
As we reported earlier, a passerby found the bodies of a couple, now identified as Terry and Brenda Aultman, in the early hours of Sunday, March 6. The couple had cycled home before passing away. Of course, witnesses initially assumed they were the victims of a fight and ran away, but when the police arrived on the scene, they quickly realized something much worse and more terrible was happening to the two. people. According to the Daytona Beach Sheriff Jakari Youngthe victims had “multiple stab wounds and lacerations,” as well as both had their throats slashed.
Their deaths are a complete mystery to law enforcement. They rule out the crime as a robbery because Terry and Brenda are still keeping their valuables, seemingly without any motive. All the police had was a potential person of interest, vaguely described as a male of unknown age and race, wearing some light-colored pants and carrying a backpack. Young previously said:
“Nobody saw anything, nobody heard anything.”
It looks like getting justice for Terry and Brenda will be a tough climb. But now, it seems the authorities have found the person accused of being responsible for this heinous crime…
It all came crashing down last Tuesday when police released photos and videos of someone they cared about. Based on WESH 2, Court of Valerie saw the images on the news and quickly realized that she had actually been serving this man at a restaurant on Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach on Saturday, March 5 – just hours before the incident. accused of crime. Valerie remembers that he used a credit card to pay for his meal.
Valerie claims the man sat at her late lunch table, wearing the exact same outfit and backpack as the news clippings:
“I thought maybe he wanted to be alone, because he had a brief word with me, so I just had to fill up with his tea.”
According to Valerie, the credit card says “my temporary payment card” and doesn’t have a name on it. However, the waiter said he signed and abbreviated the receipt with “JM”. Police were later able to locate the man, identified as Jean Macean, to a location in Orlando, where he was eventually arrested. Valerie said WESH 2:
“I want to arrest this guy. I want to help the police department and help the community. I knew I had valuable information. ”
Valerie contacted police for details of her interactions with Macean before they offered a $50,000 reward. And while her information could be a key factor in an arrest, it’s not yet known whether a reward will be awarded to Valerie. However, she notes to the outlet that she’s not doing it for the money:
“I don’t do it for the reward, I do it for the police department to help get a dangerous person off the street.”
Although Macean is currently in custody, Valerie told the outlet she is still scared by the situation but is ultimately relieved that the suspect has been identified and arrested at this point.
After being arrested, WESH 2 reported that Daytona Beach Sheriff Young said Macean confessed to killing Terry and Brenda. He now faces two counts of first-degree murder, plus a third count of “illegal immigrant”. Officials have not released additional information about the allegation, but court records obtained by the agency show he is from Haiti but has American citizenship.
Hopefully this update will bring some peace to Aultmans’ loved ones as they continue to mourn their tragic loss.
