Virtual avatars are ready to become the new trend
And virtual fashion and IRL experiences have been seamlessly combined. Last week, Decentraland hosted the first Metaverse Fashion Week, featuring designers like Giuseppe Zanotti, Elie Saab and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as digital-first brands like Auroboros. And like a real fashion week, Street style just as important as the runway shows: Virtual avatars are worn in Decentraland’s range of clothing and accessories, modeling their real-life counterparts. While the technology may not be able to mimic the street-style experience (complete with photographers and honking cars waiting for influencers to move out) not yetit’s easy to see how walking around the platform’s Fashion District – a designated area in the metaverse built for the event – can stimulate a desire to wear the costume.
