While discussing his future aspirations in management work on Football Monday night, Rooney told Sky Sports: “There are two clubs: Everton and Manchester United. I’m an Everton fan, I’ve been at Man Utd for 13 years I feel if I keep doing what I’m doing, keep learning, keep improving, those two clubs one day in the future I want to go. and manage.

“You have to believe in yourself and believe in yourself. Of course there’s going to be temptation. There may be offers come in and you think, ‘I’ll do it.’ But you need to stay in right place and I believe I’m in the right place I’m growing as a manager, growing as a coach and I’m learning.

“I understand when Frank Lampard comes to Chelsea it’s hard to say no. But when you join one of these big clubs you need to make sure it’s the right moment and you can develop and take the club forward. That kit moves forward. I’ve been approached by Everton for an interview for a manager position but I’m working, I’m still learning and I don’t feel like the time is right.”
