Sanjay Manjrekar rain shower praise on vijay wall paintings after two former Indian cricketers became embroiled in an online controversy following the ex’s comments during the India vs Australia first Test match in Nagpur. During the match, a statistic was displayed on the TV screen stating that Murali Vijay currently has the best conversion rate for any Indian opener at home. Manjrekar reads the list on air and looks surprised to see Vijay’s name on the list with people like Polly Umrigar and Rohit Sharma. Following that comment, Vijay took to social media to express his anger at Manjrekar’s comments and he tweeted twice with the first being: “@sanjaymanjrekar Surprised”. In the second tweet, he said: “Some former Mumbai players could never appreciate the south!”

Later in the day, Manjrekar brought up the topic during the game and after Rohit Sharma’s lunch of the century, he said that the contributions of players like Vijay are often forgotten by fans.
“He (Rohit) is currently 2nd with eight hundred when it comes to conversion rates at home. It’s a good thing that Murali Vijay is on that list because we tend to forget the contributions people like him have made. 12. Test hundreds – nine of them at home and the conversion rate is amazing right on top,” said Manjrekar after Rohit Sharma entered his century on Day 2 of the Test Encounter.
Vijay, who hung up his boots on January 30, 2023, most recently represented the national team in the Perth Test against Australia in December 2018. He played a total of 61 Tests, 17 ODI matches and nine T20 Internationals for India.
