Westworld: Let’s talk about that sudden appearance

This post contains the main malware for Westworld Season 4.

Teddy is back. In the final moments of the season 4 premiere of WestworldThe beloved character turned tragic killer, who died in Season 2, makes his great comeback in a romantic twist at the end of the episode — played, as always, by James Marsden.

Christina — new character created by Evan Rachel Wood, who previously played Dolores — goes out to her balcony after a series of stressful events, including going on a terrible date, witnessing a suicide, and finding a shocking memento from an intruder in the house. She’s brainstorming ideas for her job as a writer at the game company Olympiad Entertainment. The new script, she whispered, is about a “looking girl.” The girl still didn’t know what she was looking for. She just knows that nothing makes sense and she feels empty in her life. Christina is only sure of one thing: “I want a story with a happy ending.”

As soon as she said that, the camera turned to show a man watching her from the sidewalk, hidden behind trees, flanked by street lights. It was Teddy, handsome looking up at her as the score increased. (It’s a cover of the series “Video Games” by Lana Del Rey, a funny choice before it turns cynical).

The episode – a gripping, entertaining slow-motion set seven years after the events of season 3 – ends on that thrilling note, without answering any real questions about a return. by Teddy. Although the premiere was highly anticipated that Teddy was the mysterious man Christina was seen dating in an early season 4 teaser; it’s just Christina’s happy roommate, do Ariana DeBose, setting her up as a plot to help Christina become more social. And although Teddy is only really seen at the end of the episode, there’s a moment earlier in the premiere when it looks like he’s about to make a comeback. Throughout the episode, Christina was followed by a troublesome man named Peter (Aaron Stanford). Three quarters of the episode, he follows her home one night and attacks her. She fends off him for a bit, until a mysterious man rushes in and rescues her, hitting Peter. But before Christina could see him clearly, both men disappeared. It’s never been confirmed, but it’s certain seem like it could be Teddy.

Considering that Dolores uploaded Teddy’s pearl (aka cyborg brain) to Valley Beyond, Teddy’s return is a big possibility at any point in the series. In addition to the logic of the show, Teddy’s return was also confirmed when Marsden made a surprise appearance at Westworldof the console at the ATX Festival in June. He doesn’t say much about what his character will do, instead sharing vague revelations about what will happen in season 4 of the hit sci-fi series.

“Themes that explore the human urge to violence and the like will continue,” he said, Weekly entertainment. “And this season we will probably explore what the world looks like after Dolores unleashes humans and robots. Will they cooperate or will they vie for control? What happens when they vie for control? Do hosts inherit these violent urges? Some of the basics that we continue to explore on this show and certainly in season 4 — we ask a lot of those questions. What happens next?”

So what’s next for Teddy? The last time we saw him in season 2, Dolores programmed him to be the killer for the landlord rebellion. After a while, Teddy couldn’t take it anymore and committed suicide to escape the abuse. He doesn’t appear in season 3 at all. The season 4 premiere reintroduces him on a lighthearted note, hinting that he and Christina will face off even sooner than we thought.
