WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The World Bank’s Governing Council will discuss plans next month to replace the bank’s annual “Doing” ranking that was scrapped in September 2021 after a report released on Wednesday. External reports show unusual data, said World Bank President David Malpass.

Malpass told an event hosted by Stanford University on Wednesday that there are still problems to determine how to assess a country’s business climate, but the bank and its various affiliates, including International Finance Corp., are working to further encourage private sector activity.

“The World Bank is very involved in trying to encourage private sector development in countries,” he said.
