This is Uruguay’s 14th entry into the tournament, having won it twice – in 1930 as the host country and then in 1950. Uruguay has also had recent successes at the tournament, reaching reached the quarterfinals in 2018, the Round of 16 in 2014 and the semi-finals in 2010.
Uruguay is led by former Barcelona star Luis Suárez, who has scored seven goals in the previous three World Cups. Other Uruguayan players to watch out for are Liverpool‘S Darwin Nuñez and Real Madrid‘S Federico Santiago Valverde.
Uruguay has yet to score against Qatar, but they are the higher rated team in this match.
