Fortnite set a high bar for the absurd. It’s a game that the characters like Rick Sanchez, Naruto, Darth Vaderand two different Tom Holland characters (Dutch Spider-Man and Not detected yet Netherlands) can take up arms in the 100-player battle royale arena.
Still, Youtuber Ryanwho passed? monicker 12th Hour, manages to make its world weirder and a lot more creepy with his videos of “custom” events, where he brings his original ideas into the world wild of the game. Most recently, he shared a video of a fantasy event inspired by the hit mafia game, Between usthat adds terrifyingly large crews to the world of Fortnite.
The event starts by showing Fortnite the character hangs out around the purple-leaf forest of Reality Falls as a terrifyingly large, red crewmate who disappears in the distance. As the player character stands, the giant monster begins to approach. The screen fades to black, and then switches to the crew members meeting at the Emergency Board from Between uscovered by a Fortnite map. From there, I won’t spoil what happens next – but it’s a bit dull. You can watch the full clip below.
These custom events are not an in-game mod, but instead involve a complex process of recording and editing footage using visual effects. Ryan started by recording in-game content to create the background for the video. Then he uses 3D motion tracking to put Between us character in the video and make it look like real in the game. He animates the crew member using Blender, edits it with additional effects, and then it’s ready to watch. The Between us The clip takes about three business days to complete from start to finish.
Ryan originally made Fortnite build videos, before moving on to creating custom gameplay videos. The first thing he did was called “I made Fortnite R-Ranked”, which had already garnered over a million views, so he decided to continue making videos in the same way. When new Between us and Fortnite debut collab, he decided he wanted to build on the idea by creating a larger event around it. “I knew it would also be a blast to create, I mean a very big character among us in Fortnite, that doesn’t sound like much fun,” he told Polygon on Twitter.
For him, it’s fun with Fortnite and make content. “My favorite thing about doing these events is being able to be creative, have fun, learn and ultimately do what I love,” he says.
