The John Sadler Barn follows some early black with impressive first-time winner Yowie.
The two-year-old scored over 1000m at Sandown on March 16 and is set to run in Redoute options shares listed (1100 million) in Caulfield on Saturday.
Sadler’s son and assistant coach Tom said Yowie was progressing well and was looking forward to seeing the chubby boy out on Saturday.
“She had a half-mile (800m) test at Pakenham on Tuesday and she went really well,” Sadler said.
“We have another horse in the test, the genuine Seventh grade Altai Ranger. She is there for sustained gallop and she just flies behind him and can win the trial if she is required. “
With Damian Lane, who rode Yowie to victory at Sandown already signed up to drive in Sydney next weekend, Melbourne prime minister leader Jye Mcneil has been booked for the trip.
McNeil teamed up with Yowie on the Pakenham skydiving and liked how he felt underneath him.
“Jye has assessed her and he rates her not far from the good two year olds he has won this year which is a good sign of how well she is progressing, ‘ said Sadler.
How Yowie advances this campaign will be decided by her results on Saturday.
But one thing that both Sadler and his father disappoint is that Yowie did not qualify for The Showdown, the $1 million race for two-year-olds at Caulfield on April 23.
“If she wins on Saturday, that makes her very valuable because she has a super skin,” Sadler said.
“It is disappointing that she is not qualified to Challengebut we won’t be disappointed if she wins group 1 in the spring.
“After Saturday we will probably look at what’s around, but she still has a bit of development to do, so I think whatever she does now, she will improve as a a three-year-old child.”
